We added a little refinement to this farmhouse kitchen with new maple stained cabinetry, honed slate counter tops, new tile floors and backsplash, small halogen recess lighting and accent rope lighting atop wall cabinets, and stainless steel appliances. » ALL PHOTOS

New unfinished maple cabinetry with laminate counter top as well as a butcher-block top on the island cabinetry was the foundation for this kitchen. The appliances and plumbing didn't move, just new fixtures and new cook top and oven helped keep the costs minimal. New lighting was done when the plaster ceiling was taken down and replaced with a new drywall ceiling. The owner painted and wallpapered herself. » ALL PHOTOS
